Lanthanum-doped ceria interlayer between electrolyte and cathode for solid oxide fuel cells

Gadolinia-doped ceria (GDC) is widely used as an interlayer for preventing the formation of SrZrO3 between yttria-stabilized zirconia (YSZ) electrolyte and lanthanum strontium cobalt iron oxides (LSCF) cathode solid oxide fuel cells (SOFCs). However, diffusion Gd ions to YSZ results in decrease ionic conductivity due Gd2(Zr, Ce)2O7. In present work, we focus on lanthanum-doped (LDC) LSCF cathode. The YSZ/LDC composite was higher than that YSZ/GDC spite lower LDC GDC. maximum power density microtubular SOFC with better GDC interlayer. While ohmic resistance decreased by change from interlayers, polarization oxygen reduction reaction slightly increased a result distribution relaxation times (DRT) analysis. chemical compositions Zr, Ce La gradually varied at interface interlayer, which affected both resistances.
